The Top 5 High end smartphones of the month: March 2013

Today the smartphone market is flooded with lots of high end devices with competing prices.  New smartphones fully packed with high end features with ultra slim design are entering into the smartphone's market these days. Samsung, Apple, HTC, Nokia, Sony, Google, are the leading brands in smartphone market. They all have their top models of smartphones leading the world. But question arises among them which one is the best. Actually they all are best in their own way. Some are best in camera, some are best in sound quality, etc. Develeno has decided to nominate five best smartphones every month and select one of them as the award wining "phone of the month".

So here are the five high end smartphones of the Month: MARCH 2013  :

  1. Apple iPhone 5

In my opinion—and in the opinion of millions of buyers ever quarter—the iPhone 5 is the king of the smartphones.

Not only is the iPhone 5 a solid, reliable smartphone, but it is backed by a massive ecosystem of apps, and an equally robust ecosystem of physical hardware in the form of docks, camera accessories, toys, and much more.

iOS 6
1.3 GHz dual-core Apple A6 processor
4-inch 640 × 1136 pixels (326 ppi) display
8MP rear camera
1.2MP front camera
16/32/64GB internal storage

  1. Samsung Galaxy Note II

The Samsung Galaxy Note II is Android smartphone those people with large hands to hold it with, and large pockets to keep it in.
The Samsung Galaxy Note II really is a solid handset packed with an array of high-end features. It even comes with the S Pen that can be used to copy text, crop images, and even to share content.
  • Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
  • 1.6 GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor
  • 5.5-inch Super AMOLED HD display
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 1.9MP front camera
  • 16/32/64GB internal storage
  • micro SD slot

  1. Google Nexus 4

The Nexus 4 is the smartphone that Google thinks Android should be loaded on.
One of the downsides to the Nexus 4 is that it doesn't come with LTE support despite having a              supporting integrated modem. According to LG, the manufacturer of the Nexus 4, the LTE modem  requires a signal amplifier and filter to work, and these components have been omitted to keep the cost of the handset down.
Despite this, the Nexus 4 is a solid, well-made Android handset.
  • Jelly Bean (Android 4.2)
  • 1.5 GHz quad-core Krait processor
  • 4.7-inch WXGA IPS display
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 1.3MP front camera
  • 8/16GB internal storage

  1. Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD

The Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD is Motorola's latest high-end smartphone and it brings both a high-definition 4.7-inch display and a massive 3,300 mAh battery, good enough for 32-hours of use.
It's also tough, constructed form DuPont Kevlar fibre and Corning Gorilla Glass, and features water-repellent nanoparticles to shield against water, even on the internal circuit boards.
The only downside to this handset is that it is powered by Android 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich," but an upgrade to Android 4.1 "Jelly Bean" should be available before the end of the year.
  • Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) but an update is on the way
  • Dual-core 1.5GHz processor
  • 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD Display, 720p (720x1280)
  • 8 MP rear-facing camera
  • 1.3 MP front-facing with 720p HD video capture
  • 1080p HD video capture
  • 32 GB internal storage
  • micro SD card slot

  1. Nokia Lumia 920

It's easy to think that the smartphone market is stitched up between iOS and Android, but it's not. Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system is a small but influential player, and the new Lumia's from Nokia are a solid basis for taking the platform to the next level.
The Lumia 920 is a solid piece of kit. Undoubtedly one of its strong points is the PureView technology camera featuring a Carl Zeiss lens, and a wireless charging station that means no more having to plug in cables into the handset.
  • Windows Phone 8
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor
  • 4.5-inch IPS LED, 1280 × 768 pixels (332 ppi)
  • 8.7 MP rear-facing camera
  • 1.3 MP front-facing with 720p HD video capture
  • 1080p HD video capture
  • 32 GB internal storage

This time the post was inspired by ZDnet list. But now we are continuously keeping an eye on latest high end smartphones. This month two incredible smart phones are coming - GALAXY SIV & Xperia Z. We will cover them on our next post i.e The Top 5 High end smartphones of the month: April 2013

Launcher 7: Converts your Android into Windows Phone 7

Launcher 7: Converts your Android into Windows Phone 7

Launcher 7: Converts your Android into Windows Phone 7. Launcher 7 is an android launcher app that gives your android phone, a complete WP7 look and functions. This amazing launcher replaces all your android interface with its smooth wp7 interface. The developer of the app had put all his efforts to mimic WP7 interface, and make you feel like a Windows User. I would appreciate him for his hard work as all the functions possible are put into this launcher. I spent few days with it as my daily launcher and it changed the way I work by phone. Let's see more of it:

The Interface
Launcher 7: Converts your Android into Windows Phone 7
The interface of the launcher  7 is completely same as WP7 interface, as it mimics all the metro tiles along with the application dock. The launcher's flow and functions are very smooth. All the animations like tiles fly out, fly in, sliding to application dock, etc. are mimicked very well. Putting live tiles on home screen is also possible just as in WP7. Live tiles are also no exception in imitating.  To move or edit the tiles long press on that tile and it is all same as Windows phone 7. The color of the tiles can also be changed from one stock accents to another or to any of your desired color. The rotation of tiles on rotating your phone is very cool to see. All the tiles rotate simultaneously leaving a good impression on the user.

The application dock also mirrors Windows Phone perfectly. For Android users this dock style is totally different from the android's dock style, as it doesn’t have that row icon pattern. It only has a single column in list style, icons arranged in alphabetic order. The search button is again same and the arrow button looks same with its perfect animations.

Functionality
Apart from its Interface, this launcher is a master at customization too. This launcher brings all possible functionality to you. Even the finest settings can also be altered in launcher 7. On Home Screen all tiles can be edited completely, whether you want live or not, stock icons or custom icons, tile colors, and everything else.  One can also enable WP7 style status bar from Launcher 7 settings.  Indications like unread message count, missed calls count, unread mails count all are possible. Resizing the tiles would obviously be possible.  There are countless functions available like changing background, changing wallpaper, animation options, status bar options, widget view access options, etc. There is no shortage of settings in the Launcher 7.

More WP7 apps
Although Launcher 7 is the best app to convert your Android phone to windows phone but it only imitates the home screen and application dock. To give a more natural effect to your Android phone You can refer to my below apps:

Improvements Possible
I was unable to find any further improvements in the app, if you find it, mention them in your comments below. The app is already in its best state.

Overall
Overall, Launcher 7 is only the perfect app that can convert your Android phone into Windows Phone. Launcher 7 gives you full functionality with its beautiful and smooth metro interface. Launcher 7 mirrors the Windows Phone Perfectly as needed. My Rating to Launcher 7 is 100% i.e. 10/10.

Enable Start Menu in windows 8

Enable Start Menu in windows 8. Yes, that’s right. You can bring that lovely Start Menu and Start Button back on Windows 8 too. Obviously, it  would be a habit now to past Windows users to see Start Button at bottom left corner, as Start Menu has served since Windows 95 to Windows 7.Chaitanya Sareen, principal program manager at Microsoft, explains the reason for this massive change on TechSpot.com.There are few add-ons available on the web that can do this for you. Add Quick Shutdown & Restart Button to windows 8!

Add Quick Shutdown & Restart Button to windows 8!

So finally, the most waited Windows OS  i.e. Windows 8 has been launched yesterday. Thousands of people downloaded windows 8, and even before tons of people were using some of the available previews. The major problem that most of the people face with Windows 8 is the absence of shutdown and restart shortcuts. Presently the user has to open the settings from the charm and had to click on POWER button and then shutdown/restart. This is quite a lengthy process as compared to previous Windows OS versions.

What I think is that why always the Windows developer fail to categorize the Shutdown Button at right place. In previous versions of Windows OS the Shutdown Button was placed inside the Start Button, that makes no sense. If User wishes to shutdown(leave) the Computer then why he/she would go to the Start Button. And now in Windows 8 also I didn't found any sense placing Shutdown Controls inside Settings Panel. I never categorize shutdown option as a Setting.

Whatever be the thinking behind the Shutdown Button, I want my Shutdown Button to be quickly accessed by me. If you are also willing to access Shutdown Button quickly then here's a very easy article on bringing your Shutdown Button back. Just follow the following screenshots:

  1. Right click on Desktop, select New, select Create Shortcut.
Add Quick Shutdown & Restart Button to windows 8! 2.  A dialog box will appear. Type following lines for corresponding Button:
Shutdown Button:
 shutdown /s /t 3
Restart Button:
shutdown /r /t 3

Add Quick Shutdown & Restart Button to windows 8!

  1. Name the Shortcut on the Next window and click on Finish button.
  1. By default it has no icon. You can give it an icon image by clicking on Choose Icon button in Properties of the shortcut.
  2. At last, right click on the each shortcuts and click on PIN TO START option.
Add Quick Shutdown & Restart Button to windows 8! 6. Arrange your Shutdown & Restart tiles according to your convenience, and you are done!

6 Steps to protect Your kids On the Internet

6 Steps to protect Your kids On the Internet

As we all know the internet is vast network providing almost every kind of information from all around the world in no time. This sounds great, but everything in this world has its own pros and cons, and the internet is no exception. The ultimate facility that the internet provides itself becomes a danger to kids. It's very important for every parent to see that their kids stay safe on the internet. Obviously, every information and fact should be revealed at a particular age. But the internet gives access to all information at any age which is not safe for kids.

So how to ensure that weather your child is safe on the internet? The very first thought in the parent's mind could be the elimination of internet from kid's lives. But if there's an internet connection on your PC, so obviously your child will be willing to use it without knowing the dangers of the internet. And it can be little rude attitude to prevent your kid using the internet. And also it doesn’t make any sense to ban internet access for children just for certain reasons, while ignoring the useful profits it can provide.

That means it is very important to take internet safety precautions, before permitting children, teenagers use the internet. Below I had gathered 10 steps to protect your kids on the internet that will help them to stay safe on the internet:

                1. Enable Firewall: Enable your Windows Firewall or download a new Firewall from internet, like ZONEALARMS Firewall (http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm). Firewalls keep an eye on everything entering and leaving your computer and thus protecting your kids against the most common computer hacking attacks and cyber criminals. Turn on the essential settings in firewall required for our purpose.
                2. Install Anti-Spyware: installing an Anti-Spyware program on your computer protects your kids against the most dangerous and commonly found malware threats on the internet. This will also protect against unwanted pop-up ads, spying cookies, etc. recommended Anti-Spyware tools are SpySweeper & SpyBot.
                3. Install Antivirus: An Antivirus program protects your computer from dangerous virus, worms, and Trojans on the internet. This is an important step to stay safe on the internet. Recommended software are Norton internet Security, McAfee
                4. Enable Safe Search: Enable safe search on Google by following this link (http://www.google.com/preferences). I strongly recommend all parents to explore Google Family Center (http://www.google.co.in/intl/en/goodtoknow/familysafety/).
                5. Child Safety Programs: Browse and download some good Child Safety Programs that provides
Internet safety for children. These programs can block pornography content, restrict the amount of time the computer can be used, stops file sharing, protect personal information etc. recommended software are NetNanny,
                CyberPatrol, etc.
                6. Educate Kids: Nothing can replace Good Values, Education, and Talking to your child. Educate and explain your child about both positive & negative sides of the internet. Place Your Computer in a place where another responsible adult can keep an eye on the child's activity. Know when your kids are surfing the internet. Know who your  kids are chatting with.

At last I would like to tell all parents that in spite of few disadvantages make sure that your child is taking full advantage of wonderful resources available on the Internet. In todays world if your child is not adequately exposed to technology, computers and the internet, then he is at a disadvantage compared to his peers.
